A System Performance Analyst is needed to work in Chandler Arizona within the Gateway and Engineering Services Team supporting the Iridium Program. This position is responsible for monitoring, managing, and reporting of system performance as determined through the processing and analysis of call auto dialer application data. Uses sound engineering and scientific principles to analyze, define and characterize performance behavior of Iridium system and services. Develops tools as necessary to enhance productivity. Reports system call performance statistics to management and customer Support various high priority projects requiring team support. Specific activities are listed below:

  • Setup and execute various tests requiring mobile subscriber products, interfacing with SW and HW, to evaluate product and system performance

  • Perform analysis on and trend end-to-end system performance of the Iridium communication system and generate conclusions from observations

  • Detect and analyze system anomalies and alert operations teams of defects or issues

  • Investigate and formally document bugs resulting from anomaly analyses

  • Manage data collection system and ensure integrity of approx. 30,000 satellite phone calls per day

  • Verify system requirements through metric calculation and analysis

  • Generate and deliver quality of service reports to management

  • Consistently work both individually and with teams

  • Shell scripting languages (PowerShell, bash, etc.)

  • Object oriented languages (VBA, LabVIEW, python, and/or java)

  • Proven ability to work with software tools developed by others in a number of different programming languages

  • Both SQL and non-SQL database administration

  • Administration of both windows and unix networks

  • Experience troubleshooting MS Windows updates and driver issues/incompatibilities

  • Experience utilizing the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)

  • Data analysis and visualization techniques such as MS Excel PowerPivot/PowerQuery/PowerMaps, Python plotting, or others

  • Experience with RF communication including protocols (mainly GSM), physical layer elements (RF modulation schemes, RF hardware), and principles (signal-to-noise, interference concepts, link-margin, etc.)

  • Ability to interpret ICDs and SDDs in order to troubleshoot issues and develop understanding

  • Self-starter with a curiosity for why things behave the way they do, and identifying and evaluating emergent behaviors in complex systems

  • Desire to continually build knowledge of the Iridium systems and its interfaces, dataflows, and characteristics

Experience/Education Requirements

An engineering or technical disciplines degree. Ideal candidate with have 2 to 5 years of professional experience.
