Description:

The IT Operations Manager is responsible for all enterprise systems, operating systems and applications. Serves company IT needs by planning, organizing, and evaluating systems operations. Will oversee IT systems, implement improvements and new systems as needed. Will function as primary contact for all IT-related systems activities. Achieves IT operational objectives by maintaining current system; evaluating, recommending, testing and installing new technology; contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.

Duties:

OPERATIONAL

  • Accomplishes information systems staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results

  • Manages all Information Technology activities, resources and assets for the enterprise.

  • Reviews status reports of Systems Administrations and Project Managers and addresses issues as appropriate.

  • Communicates effectively with internal clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.

  • Sustains information systems results by defining, delivering, and supporting information systems; Assesses information systems results by auditing application of systems.

  • Enhances information systems results by identifying information systems technology opportunities and developing application strategies.

  • Safeguards assets by participating in the overall Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and information security and control structuresfor the company and takes action to implement and test approved plans.

  • Accomplishes financial objectives by determining service level required; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective action.

  • Manages the portfolio of company business applications, ensuring proper maintenance via vendor support agreements or using in-house development staff.

  • Oversees the administration of and provides technical leadership and management direction to IT Enterprise Operational team in areas of UNIX, Linux, Windows, database and storage.

  • Possess extensive knowledge of IT policies, standards, procedures and best practices.

  • Design and maintain all IT Operations processes according to operations policies through standardization of methods.

  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts to support the enterprise applications.

  • Interact regularly with customers to understand their business while anticipating their IT requirements.

  • Identify potential risks and issues that may affect IT Enterprise systems.

    MANAGEMENT\SUPERVISION

  • Coordinates and ensures standard company policies and procedures are followed. Adhering to legal or regulatory regulations.

  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

  • Foster a highly effective teamwork environment where accountability, clear effective communication, and a high level of customer service is demonstrated on a daily basis.

  • Establish and monitor required operational metrics to measure relevant performance and capacity.

  • Manage multiple projects throughout the project lifecycles.

  • Manage conflicting priorities, deliverables and schedules.

    PLANNING & EXECUTION

  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems.

  • Maintain documentation for existing systems.

  • Participate in planning sessions for new system deployment and facilitate training for new systems.

  • Assumes responsibility for results of assigned projects.

  • Keeps abreast of current industry trends and practices to recommend solutions based on the Company's needs by collaborating with key business leaders and soliciting feedback from internal customers.

  • Plans patch remediation and testing and documents results.

  • Review service deliverables to ensure quality with adherence to processes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Prepares reports to ensure optimal performance and maintain records of service level agreements for customers.

  • Participate in development of IT vision and translate the vision into short term/long term goals and deliverables.

  • Design, implement and ensure efficient maintenance and ensure compliance to all disaster recovery plans

  • Conduct regular meetings with IT team members to review daily activities, projects staffing requirements, resources.

  • Participates in the overall Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning for the company and takes action to implement and test approved plans.

     

Qualifications:

 

  • Strong Working knowledge of ITIL Standards and Processes. (Certification Preferred)

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing enterprise systems operations, virtualization. Experience in VMWare and Shareplex preferred

  • Exceptional planning, organizational, and time management skills.

  • IT technical skills across multiple disciplines (Unix, Linux, Windows, Oracle)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

  • Customer service focus

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport building, listening, and questioning skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to multi-task.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field.
  • 7-10 years’ experience in Information Technology with a minimum of 5 years managing teams.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ITIL, COBIT, ISO
  • Relevant Industry certifications
  • Ability to assist multiple customers with a variety of issues

  • Supervises the Systems Admin Team
