Description: 

This is a high visibility position, reporting directly to the CFO, with responsibilities for all tax matters of the company including SEC disclosures for income taxes. In this role, the incumbent manages and ensures the accuracy of quarterly income tax accrual processes working closely with the financial accounting executive team.  The incumbent is also responsible for overseeing the preparation of federal state, local and foreign income tax returns.

The Vice President, Tax will plan and direct all aspects of Iridium's tax policies and objectives and will provide expertise and leadership for the tax-related activities of our operations. 

The most important tax issues the company faces over the next year include planning and structuring in relation to an infusion of capital, , and the overall company structure for minimizing future taxes as the company grows. 

Duties: 
  • Worldwide tax provision, including FIN 48 and all related Section 404 processes
  • U.S. tax compliance
  • Experience with inbound and outbound international tax and transfer pricing, tax accounting, business development deals and tax planning initiatives
  • Management of future U.S. Federal, state, and local tax audits, appeals, and controversies
  • Supervise US and international accounting firms involved with tax related transactions
  • Make recommendations to executive management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies
  • Planning and implementation of sales/use taxes policies and strategies
  • Manage the relationship with external auditors and tax consultants
  • Occasional Travel (less than 5%)
Qualifications: 
  • 15+ years of corporate tax experience in public accounting firm or corporation
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, economics or similar business concentration
  • MBA, Masters Business Administration required
  • MBS, Master in taxation or other graduate finance degree highly desirable
  • Expertise in financial accounting matters especially the financial accounting for income taxes
  • Expertise in global operations, international tax laws
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and proven track record of partnering in team settings.
